Am I the only one who hates 2:00 a.m.?

Imagine, you’re there at a party, your mind and body is intoxicated with the liquor and music, you look at your watch or your phone and it says 1:50. Instead of continuing having fun, you pause and wonder “Shyttt ! Soon 2:00 … party soon done! Police soon come lock it off “You stop everything and your eyes race through the crowd, looking for those two officers who are making their way to the DJ booth who you know are going tell the promoters/Dj “THE PARTY DONE” You hold your head and wonder “WHYYYYYYY?????? The party JUST start “... lol, Can you relate to this scene too? Or is it just me ?

I think this is a problem that should be addressed by the government. Why are they trying to take away our time to enjoy ourselves? Let’s face it; Jamaican people are not the type to arrive at functions/parties early, so this shutting off parties at two is a bit harsh.

Ok, I do understand that in certain areas, the noise can be perceived as a nuisance so what I would recommend is that the government put in certain measures to ensure that all parties are satisfied, the working class and the party-goers. I advocate that they name certain areas as “Events Zone “in which these places would be exempt from the noise abatement act which basically states that parties should end at 2. These zones should be Places away from residential areas, so that people who wish to enjoy their night’s rest can do so and people who wish to party until morning can too . With the current economic stress, people need their time for themselves and if partying is their way of doing this, they should be allowed to do as they please and not be treated by the government as young teens that have been slapped with a bedtime curfew.

  1. Ok here is what I have to say about this entry. I understand your plight about partying and destressing, which i totally agree with, as to how to rectify the problem I dont have a clue, kinda not all that interested really cuz I'm not a party goer. Mi see u all a suggest policies lol..Maybe not being a party goer, my answers might me biased but here it goes. 1, the culture of being late NEEDS TO STOP!! it looks bad on us as a nation and ppl, it suggests lack of discipline if u ask me.I was even asked by a lady once if i was Jamaican bcuz i was early for an appoinment, didnt feel proud at all, but yea back to the point. So instead of talking bout ppl go always late they shud get their asses there on time so they can enjoy their monies worth so when 2 o' clock comes they actually want to go home. Secondly your assuming that only residential areas are affected by this "noise"..some ppl in the ghetto and/or working class dont want to be disturbed either, the church goers, the elderly etc. I will agree though that most persons from that area are for the happening of these parties but not all. Lastly...I think...these "Event Zones" might have some limitations even though I understand the view point your coming from.. from the little I know about parties and party goers, i gather that u ppl like change of scenaries,u like the fact that u dress up and go to a different place each time, it helps to kill the monotony. Having designated venues might not allow this to happen, and so parties might just become boring. All in all I must say I see why u made this suggestions..well thats my bit on this entry..do u thing bossy *FujuPhoenix*

  2. 1) I do agree with you, we as Jamaicans have basically conformed to the norm of being late. It's just like a child that you "bruk bad", it's not something positive, but that's just how it is.
    2) When i said "Residential area" ... As far as i'm concerned, a residential area is a place where people live, wasnt talking about uptown and ghetto. My mind was changed from that thought couple years ago lol... was referring to placing like Palisadoes and some parts of New Kingston(Commercial areas) which are not that close to people's homes.
    3) As it relates to the scenery and needing a change of venue, i dont think of that as a problem, i've heard from a number of people who DO NOT like when a party continuously changes it's venue. A good promoter should know how to change up the decor to offer something different to please patrons. Spoke to someone recently about this same thing concerning "Rum Punch" in which she said she stopped going because they kept changing the venue
